House Blouberg

Whole-Home Interior Renovation & Furnishing

When our clients first approached us, their Blouberg home had good bones but felt dated and disconnected. Their dream was to transform it into a light, modern, and functional family retreat that celebrated the views of Table Mountain while providing comfort for hosting friends and family.

The brief was ambitious: refresh the entire house with a contemporary, cohesive design that balanced elegance with everyday practicality. The kitchen needed to be fully reimagined, the bedrooms transformed into serene retreats, and the living and dining areas needed to flow seamlessly, allowing space for both quiet evenings and lively entertaining.

The project began with significant planning and layout adjustments. We opened up the home’s main living spaces to improve flow and installed dropped ceilings with recessed lighting throughout to add warmth and flexibility. Bespoke pendants were commissioned for the entrance and dining areas to make a statement as soon as you step inside. The kitchen retained its original footprint but was completely resprayed and fitted with new handles and countertops, bringing a crisp, fresh finish that complemented the home’s new palette.

The bathrooms were entirely gutted and rebuilt, from the floors to the sanitaryware, with new tiling, mirrors, and fittings. Oak-veneer floors replaced cold tiles in the main living areas, bringing warmth underfoot, while plush carpets were installed in the bedrooms for softness and comfort.

Each bedroom was given a distinct personality while keeping within a harmonious scheme. The main bedroom became a calm, private sanctuary, while the daughter’s room was styled in chic, soft greys for a sophisticated feel. The third bedroom was designed for visiting family, with a pull-out sofa bed to accommodate extended stays. All furniture, joinery and soft furnishings were custom-made to fit the space perfectly.

In the living room, a statement TV wall was clad in large-format tiles with a recessed television and a bioethanol fireplace, creating a cosy, architectural focal point. Flanking cabinetry included a hidden drinks cabinet with a mirrored pull-out tray for effortless entertaining.

Outside, we reimagined the expansive patio into zones for lounging, dining and quiet retreat. Bespoke daybeds were added for lazy afternoons, and teak furniture was chosen for its timeless durability. Outdoor cushions in textured, rich fabrics added life and warmth to the large space, preventing it from feeling empty.

Throughout the project, we paid careful attention to details that elevate a space – from the bespoke sandblasted pattern on the front door glass to the backlit mirrors in the bathrooms and bedrooms. A subtle-textured wallpaper was used throughout to soften the interiors, with a bolder patterned option reserved for the dining room to create a focal point. Automated curtains and blinds, custom Italian bedlinen, and carefully selected accessories brought the entire scheme together.

The result is a sophisticated, welcoming home that feels as luxurious as it is liveable – a true “home away from home” for a family that splits its time between cities.
